Welcome to the 7th Grade Website

Greetings:

* 7th graders MUST be proficient in the multiplication tables from 1 x 1 = 1  up through 12 x 12 = 144.  MANY 7th graders are NOT.  They have been taught these.  We have shown a card game to help them, there are flash cards, and many of my listed Math websites below will help.

PLEASE take some time to read through this information. It may help your student and make learning easier.

LISTENING SKILLS: Help your student to actively listen. Make a game of having them repeat instructions or play a game if "tell me what I just said." Tuning out or not activley listening often results in missing vital directions and losing out on learning. Itis easier to do the lerning if you understand what is being said. This only happens when active listening is happening.

NEWS FLASH to help students FLY through 7th Grade Math:

One step makes it SO MUCH EASIER. The step???? practice those times tables until they are cold memorized and just come to you without even thinking. How?????? Recite them aloud, have someone quiz you on a road trip. See how quickly you can type them on the computer. Play the card game taught in class. You REALLY need to be proficient at the times table right through 12 x 12 = 144. GET PRACTICING!!!

Grade 7 Math takes the wonderful background you have developed and builds upon it. This is the year that truly begins your adult Math journey. Grade 7 works with Algebra, in depth problem solving, and deepens the knowledge you have in all the Math areas.

Our textbook PASSPORT TO MATHEMATICS is an integrated approach and is well aligned to the Massachusetts Frameworks for learning.

On this website you will find the homework posted on the homework page. The vocabulary for the current chapter we will also be listed in the homework section. Additionally, upcoming tests, quizzes, and projects are posted in the homewokr page. This class does NOT use "pop" or surprize quizzes.
